a rare approach
to Farmer Mental Health

The typical answer to poor farmer mental health & farmer suicide risk is that farming is difficult and uncertain with many factors outside of one's control.

My approach is different.

I consider the impacts of the

-
Farm Culture
-
Farmer Identity
-
Personal Development

on a farmer's mental health.

Dr. Frankyl who lived through the concentration camps during WWII stated that the suicide rate among prisoners was very low. I can think of hardly any population with more cause for hopelessness.

Farmers are still dying by suicide.

I feel strongly that it is time for a broader approach to help farmer's gain and sustain good enough mental health.
